Today we set off on a very special trip to the Oceanarium, just in time for their Spooky Halloween Event! š»š Costumes were a must, and L made the fantastic choice to go as a scary skeletonĀ - he looked brilliant!
From the moment we stepped inside, excitement was in the air. We started our adventure by visiting the reptiles, and L was amazedĀ when the lizard suddenly started moving! š¦ His curiosity shone as he asked questions about each creature and matched them up with the posters around the exhibits - it was wonderful to see his enthusiasm for learning.
Next, we met the turtles before heading over to my personal favourites - the penguins! š§ We spent ages watching them waddle, swim, and dive. Together, we worked out who was who by the colours of their fin bands, and L was especially delighted by Biscuit (He kept calling her Cookie), the yellow-banded penguin, who kept diving in and out of the water and making him giggle. We even spotted the two penguin chicks splashing around while the adults looked on proudly! š
Our journey continued past the crocodile š and down into the magical underwater tunnel, where L couldnāt stop smiling as sharks swam gracefully overhead. š¦ After that, we had some fun in the play area before heading to see the ottersĀ at feeding time! Watching them dart around and learning about how they prefer minced meat over carrots was a real highlight. š¦¦
We popped back to the play area for a little while longer, where L was lucky enough to see a penguin dive right in front of him! Then it was time to explore the starfish and spot the giant turtle š¢ making an appearance. Upstairs, we returned just in time to see the penguinsā lunchtime feeding - L listened carefully as we learned that some penguins can be quite picky eaters!
Afterwards, we admired the colourful birds š¦in the gardens, and enjoyed some lunch followed by a play in the soft play area. But the day wasnāt over yet - L asked if we could go backĀ to the aquarium! So off we went again, to see the stingrays glide by and to spend a little more time under the tunnel, watching the sharks one last time before heading home. š
It was a truly magical day filled with curiosity, laughter, and learning - the perfect Halloween adventure under the sea! š
